The main objective of infection prevention and disease control is to decrease the spread of infectious diseases and prevent people from getting sick. With the recognition of today’s infections, compliance is a must. What is the protocol in your office and who is responsible for the protection of the office, the patient, and the public? This course will look at recommendations and requirements to safeguard the public, keep you well, as well as adhere to compliance. By the end of this presentation, the dental professional will be able to: • Recognize how to prevent pathogens being passed from one person to another. • Discuss recommendations and their role in prevention of disease transmission. • Manage prevention and control of infection with hand hygiene, personal protective equipment, cleaning and appropriate handling and disposal of sharps. • Use current research, determine a team approach to standard precautions, best practices, with OSHA guidelines.
