Occlusal disease is one of the three main challenges to maintaining a healthy dentition. Recognizing the signs on the teeth and restorations allows the dentist to determine appropriate treatment to minimize the effects and avoid restoration failures from occlusal trauma. This course will help you determine how to initiate the correct treatment, construct a predictable simple method to fabricate a maxillary occlusal bruxism splint, and understand the sequential technique for an occlusal adjustment.

Online Courses
On8003 - Bleaching Sensitivity Treatment and Caries Control
Room: ,
Type:    Handouts: No
In-Person Attendee Fee: $35.00  Online Attendee Fee: $50.00
AGD Code: 780

Bleaching sensitivity is different from traditional sensitivity, yet potassium nitrate applied in a tray seems to work well for both. Caries control can also be obtained using carbamide peroxide bleaching materials through tray application. Learn how to explain to a patient the unique nature of bleaching sensitivity and what the best treatment options are. This course will also discuss the mechanism of caries control in elderly patients, orthodontic patients and cancer patients that involves bleaching materials, pH, diet and oral hygiene.

Sa6097 - Smile Analysis and Esthetic Re-contouring
Time: 8 - 10 AM
Room: Omni, Walnut
Type: Lectures    Handouts: Yes
Dentist Fee: $95.00  Other Fee: $65.00

Prior to initiating any esthetic treatment, it is important for the dentist to examine and diagnose the overall esthetic condition of the patient. Performing a smile analysis includes an evaluation of how the teeth are positioned in the face and their relationship to the lips, as well as a tooth-by-tooth analysis and treatment. We will examine the principles of smile analysis, esthetic re-contouring for natural teeth and restorations, and periodontal and orthodontic considerations for maximum esthetics.
