Topics include: legal ethics and professionalism in the practice of dentistry, education and training regarding professional boundaries; unprofessional conduct relating to the commission of acts of sexual intimacy, abuse,  misconduct, or exploitation with regard to the practice of dentistry; legislative updates and  changes to the laws relating to the practice of dentistry and rules, policies, and advisory  opinions and rulings issued by the board; professional conduct and ethics; proper billing  practices; professional liability; and risk management.

Note: This course helps to fulfill the Georgia Board of Dentistry CE requirement.

The FDA, ADA , State and Federal Government as well as media are all very concerned and highlighting the excessive use of narcotics and other addictive medications in dentistry. Dr. Maron will lead a discussion on current recommendations in pain management for the dental patient. From premedication to local anesthesia, staying abreast of the latest protocols is critical for ideal pain control. We will examine oral sedation and the requirements for state anesthesia certification as well as post-op pain control, including appropriate use of narcotics and anti-inflammatory medications.

Then we will evaluate the appropriate measures to deal with legal or investigative matters.

Fr6082 - ABC's of Safe Pediatric and Adult Sedation

This course will review the current practice and recommendations for pediatric and adult minimal and moderate sedation. Understanding your patient and their family is key as is utilizing both pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic therapies for a successful sedation. We will  begin with a review of psychology, physiology and pharmacology and progress through monitoring, drug selection and office protocols.  Complications and emergencies can and do happen at all levels of sedation and a brief review of early recognition and intervention will round out the course.
