Making Resolutions... the "SMART Weigh!"
Posted: 1/11/2016

Many people making resolutions have made the same ones before, only to abandon the effort within days or weeks.

Why? The biggest reason is this: we don’t plan to fail, we just fail to plan. Old habits are amazingly resilient and hold like they were glued to us. We need a plan to get “unstuck,” especially for difficult resolutions like losing weight, getting fit or stopping smoking.

The first step is to decide if you are really willing to make the effort to kick a bad habit or start a healthy one. Making a decision to change just because it’s New Year’s Day isn’t enough to keep you motivated for long. Resolve for the right reasons. Eat well and exercise to be energized, feel better and live longer – not just to lose a few pounds for an upcoming class reunion or spring vacation!

Lasting change means developing a plan of action and being committed to sticking to it. Set clear and attainable goals – like eating breakfast every day, eating more (and a variety of) fruits and veggies, or walking 5 days per week for 30 minutes a day. Remember that your goal isn’t the starting point, but what you’re working toward. Make it a reward! Put it in writing and put it someplace (like the refrigerator door!) where you will see it every day.

Surround yourself with people and situations that encourage you in good habits. Join a support group, get an exercise buddy or spend more time with friends who encourage you to meet your goals. Give yourself rewards and pats on the back for progress!

FORGET THE DIET AND GET BACK TO BASICS (for lasting effects!)

The SMART Weigh is my non-dieting solution to energy and weight management that works to unleash your body’s natural healing and metabolic mechanisms. It is based on timeless truths that show you how your body is designed to work and how to maximize its own operating system. If you establish these habits into your lifestyle, you will activate very rewarding results into your life. Don’t diet, rather learn how to live and flourish.

Use these 5 simple keys to get you back to basics and back on track to start 2016 off in a SMART way!
S: Strategic Eating and Drinking using the Eat Right Prescription:
    Eat Early and Eat Often
    Eat Balanced and Eat Lean
    Eat Bright and Eat Variety
Drink Water - and lots of it!
Drink at least 8-10 eight ounce glasses of water a day.

M: Movement. Get moving. Learn basic exercise you can do.

A: Air and Light. Learn how to breathe to oxygenate your body.
Get outside in the light of day.

R: Rest. You need 7 to 8 hours a day to recycle your body.

T: Treat yourself well. Learn a lifestyle of giving yourself what
you need physically, emotionally and spiritually.

The incredible thing about these SMART Weigh principles is that they will not only unlock your fat cells and release your natural ability to lose weight, but they will also help you live longer and better.
