A Message from Society President Slade Lail
Focusing on Quality CE
Our profession is ever changing from the materials we use, the developing technology, patient attitudes and beliefs, to the business side of our practice. Our paths take many twists and turns, oftentimes giving us an unsure anticipation as to what’s around the next corner. With this in mind, thank goodness we are members of Hinman. A time-tested organization that has stayed the course of focusing on quality continuing education, enriching our profession and our members. It is such a privilege to be part of a group that puts service above self to further our profession and the well-being of those we treat!
In that light, what an honor it was to have Dr. DeWitt Wilkerson present at our September Membership Meeting. His lecture, Dentistry’s Role in Complete Health Care, has been described as the next frontier in dentistry. His extensive research on this subject led him to author his book The Shift, the Dramatic Movement Toward Health-Centered Dentistry. As the founder of the Integrative Dental Medicine Scholar Society, there is no doubt that those of us in attendance once again reaped the knowledge from a true leader and the most knowledgeable lecturer on this subject.
Be sure to mark your calendars for our lecture on November 11! The one and only Dr. Mike Pruett will be presenting on Managing Misfortunes in the Dental Practice: Things We All Need to Know.
We all face roadblocks with our procedures at times or have a patient present with an issue that leaves us saying, “What should I do now?” Dr. Pruett will address such situations in an informative
and entertaining way, as usual.
Our final Membership Meeting on January 23 will be at the Georgia Aquarium with Mr. Bob Kulhan. Bob’s energy and motivation are over the top as he will give a presentation you and your staff will
not want to miss.
Our Society meetings feature some of the finest speakers in our profession. The exceptional quality of these speakers and our meeting venues would not be possible without the financial support of our
Trustees. So, thank you from our Society and our members to the Trustees – you make it all happen!
I want to recognize the General Chair of the 2025 Hinman Meeting, Dr. William Rousseau. He and his
team are wrapping up the final details of our March Meeting and it will surely be “the best Hinman ever.” His theme is “Spring Down South” and the Meeting will have much to offer to all who attend.
Please encourage your staff to sign up early as our lectures fill up quickly every year. This speaks volumes about the quality of our Meeting and the desire of our attendees to learn, socialize and have
a great experience.
Finally, I encourage everyone to mark your calendars for next year’s Annual Meeting from May 30 to June 1. This destination will be a first for our group as we are going to the Gaylord Opryland Hotel in
Nashville, Tennessee. This is a fantastic venue with activities for the whole family. We invite you to enjoy this special perk available to our Society members as a thank you for completing your eight
hours of service during the Hinman Dental Meeting. Please feel free to reach out to me if I can be of any assistance to you as a member of the Hinman Dental Society.
