TMJ/TMD

Temporomandibular disorders affect approximately 10% of the general population. Obtaining an appropriate diagnosis and treatment plan can be perplexing. This course will review the types of TMDs: arthrogenous disorders, myogenous disorders, internal derangements, as well as other uncommon joint conditions. Etiology, pathogenesis, pain mechanisms and dysfunction, examination methods, diagnostic tests, and management strategies will be discussed. Dentists will learn how to easily differentiate between muscle vs. joint conditions and implement medical, dental, pharmacologic and behavioral treatments.
