Learn up-to-date and evidence-based concepts and techniques for providing effective non-surgical management of periodontal diseases in a lecture and hands-on format. Examine the etiology of periodontal diseases, evidence-based techniques to be taught to patients for their daily plaque removal, hands-on techniques for periodontal probing, calculus detection, periodontal hand instrumentation with classical and innovative curettes, and hand instrument sharpening using diamond sharpening cards. Hands-on use of magnetostrictive and piezoelectric ultrasonics will be presented along with a discussion of supra and subgingival air polishing.
