Obesity has crippled the health and well-being of millions of Americans. Billions of health-care dollars are spent annually because of an association with obesity. Research continues to uncover how oral inflammatory conditions impact overall health. Only recently has science begun to look more closely at obesity and its potential influence on oral health. The attendee will be introduced to the physiology of obesity including its impact on inflammation. The course will discuss the trends associated with food consumption and physical activity and describe the oral and systemic consequences of obesity.
