This full-day session will offer dental students, residents and associates the full disclosure of both the benefits and obstacles of owning a dental practice. Gain insight on navigating practice ownership from three presenters and experience the opportunity to network with current practice owners. With new dentists, owners and dental-specific professionals together in one room, this program is packed with insight and tools to kick off your career. This program includes breakfast and lunch.

8:45 am               Owning Your Dental Practice: The Bridge to Financial Freedom

This lecture provides attendees a realistic view of practice ownership versus an employee. Attendees will understand the necessary qualifications needed before starting a new practice or finding an existing opportunity. It will provide details on the key elements to study before purchasing a practice like location, patient mix, type of transition and more, and how to negotiate the deal financially once you find the practice of your dreams.

Dr. Mark Hyman will share the keys to managing a successful practice and providing world-class service. Attendees will walk away from this course knowing how to implement the critical steps to renew a practice, discover the potential issues involved in handling new patients and utilize new techniques for keeping the team focused and enthused.

12:10 pm            Are You Ready? Considerations Before Transitioning Your Practice

Current practice owners will be welcomed into the room at this point in the program. While this lecture will speak primarily to the owners, understanding both sides of the equation can offer a well-rounded picture for the transition process. This lecture will dive into the financial and operational expectations when bringing in a new doctor or selling your practice completely, tips for finding the right match and how to develop a strategy for an efficient transition.  

 

1:10 pm               Networking Social: Find Your Future Practice Opportunity

This course includes a moderated-networking session with current practice owners. Hear their stories, experiences and insight to get real-life perspective from doctors who have walked this path themselves.

 

NOTE: Students, residents and associates will participate in the full-day Practice Ownership Program, while practice owners and established doctors are invited to join the session halfway through the program for the “Are You Ready?” lecture and networking portion.

  • Students do not need to add Hinman’s Night Out to their Hinman registration. When you register for Course #Sa6095, the system will add your party ticket for free.
  • You must book your hotel room at book.passkey.com/go/CainWatters2025 to receive the complimentary offer. If you book through Hinman’s general housing link, you will not be included in the NDP/CWA room block, and you will be required to pay for your room at your expense.
  • When booking your hotel room, you can register for two consecutive nights at the Westin Peachtree Plaza that fall between 3/16/25 and 3/24/25, but you must register for and attend Course #Sa6095.
  • When booking, you will be prompted to provide your credit card information to pay for any incidentals and late cancellations.

  • If you cancel before February 21, your card will not be charged for the room.
