Up-to-date concepts and techniques for providing effective non-surgical management of periodontal diseases will be presented in a lecture and hands-on format. Topics include discussion of the etiology of periodontal diseases, hands-on techniques for periodontal probing, calculus detection, periodontal hand instrumentation with classical and innovative curettes, and hand instrument sharpening using diamond sharpening cards. Hands-on use of magnetostrictive and piezoelectric ultrasonics will be presented along with a demonstration of subgingival air polishing. Sequencing appointments for non-surgical active and maintenance therapy for implants will be presented.
