Practitioners must deal with ever expanding arrays of patients with medical issues as the population is aging. When practitioners think they understand things, the rules are changed. BRONJ (bisphosphonate-related osteonecrosis of the jaw) is now MRONJ (medication-related osteonecrosis of the jaw). Total joint replacement patients no longer need premedication. Patients on Coumadin and other blood thinners do not always need to stop medications prior to dental treatment. The course will discuss these issues and help practitioners understand the science behind the current management protocols.
