Medical emergencies can occur in any dental practice. Being aware of contributing health conditions, recognizing certain signs and symptoms, and understanding how to use the components of an emergency medical kit are important in preventing and managing a serious medical event. By the end of this course attendees should be able to:
- Describe the importance of prevention in dental office emergencies
- Identify various aspects of health conditions and their relationship to medical emergencies.
- Recognize the signs or symptoms of impending or developing emergencies.
- Identify the contents of an emergency kit.
- Describe the medicolegal implications of medical emergencies.
