Is removable prosthodontics the final frontier of digital dentistry? It took 20 years for the CAD-CAM crown to come mainstream, but only five years for dentures to become the hottest topic in computer-aided technology. Creating great removable prostheses requires a basic understanding of making great denture impressions and obtaining proper records, regardless of the method (conventional vs digital). This presentation will introduce you to the latest advances in complete dentures and give you a fresh look at removable prosthodontics since dental school.

Learning Objectives:

• Compare digital vs. conventional methods for impressions and occclusal records

• Understand fabrication methods of complete, immediate and implant overdentures

• Discuss the options available for the digital prosthesis; indications and application

• Apply knowledge from a wide variety of clinical case presentations to incorporate immediately into your practice

Note: This course is a prerequisite for course Fr134.

Digital dentures are the dentures of the “present” (the future is already here). Many may have even tried a denture or two. Some may still require a little encouragement and for you, this workshop was designed to (virtually) hold your hand and help you get started. From experiencing a new digital workflow to shorten the number of chairside visits, to demystifying the digital preview, to troubleshooting at the try-in visit to practically insure taking the guesswork out of insertion and minimize post-insertion adjustments – this hands-on typodont and laptop practice is for you. You will even have a value-added bio-functional denture to take with you as a visual aid for your practice.

Learning Objectives:

• Practice the reference/duplicate denture technique

• Troubleshoot the bio-functional trial denture

• Understand the digital preview

• Learn how to adjust teeth in a virtual environment

Note: Course Fr239 is a prerequisite for this course. Attendees are asked to bring a laptop and loupes (readers).
