TH301 - Endo for GPs: Better, Faster and Safer Root Canals

Many clinical tips and tricks will be demonstrated and tailored to novice and experienced GPs. Topics will include endo diagnosis, anesthesia, access preparations, instrumentation, obturation, analgesics and antibiotics in endo, and one vs. two step endo. Attendees will learn how to more efficiently: locate canals (including MB2), instrument and obturate with fewer steps, and one versus two appointment root canals, and learn how to better: access teeth, locate and instrument calcified canals, follow curved canal, anesthetize (hot) teeth, improve intra-canal medications. They will also learn how to separate less files, prevent perforations, avoid canal ledging/blocking, prevent obturation extrusion, reduce post-op pain.

TH324 - Advances and Controversies in Endo: What You Should Know

This honest and practical course will review the relevance as well as the good, bad and ugly of many new endodontic instruments, procedures and protocols. This review will include 3-D imaging as related to endo diagnosis, various filing and obturation systems, canal disinfection, single visit endo and the role of antibiotics. The participant will learn to understand controversies, including the pros and cons of new NiTi files and obturations, one visit endo, and endo versus implants. Attendees will review advances in instrumentation and obturation, apex locators, 3-D endodontic imaging/diagnosis, intra-canal meds. They will also understand facts behind advances and controversies that will benefit patients and outcomes.

This workshop is tailored for novice and experienced general dentists. Participants will learn, via exercises on acrylic and extracted teeth, how to locate and negotiate canals (including curved and calcified), instrument and obturate more efficiently and safely. Many practical tips and tricks will be provided. The participant will learn the essentials in stainless steel and NiTi file handling and canal preparation. Learn to locate and negotiate calcified and curved canals (including MB2) using new NiTi files. Learn how to obturate the instrumented teeth in 3-D, predictably and efficiently.

 

Note: Attendees will be required to bring at least three previously accessed but not instrumented extracted teeth stored in bleach.
