You know you need a laser but there are so many choices on the Hinman exhibit floor! This hands-on course will help determine what type of laser best suits your needs, and provide the opportunity to try different makes and models in a controlled environment. After a brief lecture on laser basics and safety guidelines, several laser users will provide individual instruction as you move through up to 10 different stations. After procedures are shown from clinical cases, you can try the same procedures on a pig jaw. A must for dentists who want an overall introduction to what lasers can do or are considering a purchase.

Successful periodontal therapy requires dealing with both the micro-bacteria and the host response. By utilizing light energy, we can better address both sides of the healing equation as well as improve aesthetics. This course will include basic laser science along with research and clinical cases to showcase the effectiveness of laser therapy.


Learning Outcomes: 

  • Understand how a laser works to be prepared to do basic laser procedures and appreciate advanced therapies
  • Understand laser periodontal therapy and cosmetic options
  • Learn how to execute basic laser periodontal treatment (when combined with a hands-on course)
