This course will discuss contemporary restorative dentistry standards of care according to recommendations by the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry. Risk assessment in decision-making for restorative care will be presented. Restorations with resin-modified glass ionomer cement, resin-based composite, amalgam, stainless steel crowns, zirconia crowns, and "Hall Technique" crowns will be presented, including indications and contraindications.

This course will discuss the early diagnosis of tooth demineralization, focusing on the use of quantitative light fluorescence (QLF). Interventions with fluoride (including over-the-counter fluorides, professionally applied topical fluorides, fluoride varnish and silver diamine fluoride), glass ionomer surface protectants, sealants and minimally invasive products, such as chlorhexidine, povidone iodine and resin infiltration will be presented. We will also discuss risk assessment utilization in decision-making for interventions.
