Emergency Medicine in Dentistry

Medical emergencies can, and do, happen in the practice of dentistry.
Review how to prepare the office and staff to promptly recognize and
effectively manage potentially life-threatening situations. Detailed
discussion will focus on the proper response to altered consciousness:
syncope, hypoglycemia and seizures; respiratory distress: asthma and
hyperventilation; and drug-related emergencies: allergy and overdose
(local anesthetic and sedative).
